After the crazy 806PPI 4K display bearing Xperia Z5 Premium, Sony also launched the rather tame Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact at IFA 2015.

The Xperia Z5 comes with a 5.2-inch 1080p Triluminous display, while the Z5 Compact makes do with a 4.6-inch 720p display. Both are IPS displays with tempered glass coating on top. Sony is still trusting the Snapdragon 810 for its entire new Z5 line-up clocked at 2GHz with Adreno 430 GPU. You get 3GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage for the Xperia Z5 while the Compacy gets slightly less memory, actually 1/3rd less at 2GB. You can expand storage with a microSD card slot on both devices.

The camera module has been thoroughly redesigned for the new Z5 flagship series, you now have a 23MP rear camera with f/2.0 lens capable of shooting 4K videos. The camera app too has been re-designed with a more modern look suiting the new flagship. The power button here too now comes with an embedded fingerprint sensor. The backpanel is now frosted, giving respite from the glossy one's of yore which were a fingerprint magnet to say the least.

Even though the design of the Xperia Z5 and Z5 compact is pretty reminiscent of the Z3+, there are some subtle changes including the power button and frosted back-panel I mentioned above. The Xperia Z5 has been blessed with a 2900 mAh battery while the Z5 compact is expected to work with a smaller 2700mAh unit.

The Xperia Z5 will be available in White, Graphite Black, Green as well as Gold colors. The Xperia Z5 Compact adds Yellow and Coral to the more demure black and white options. These will be available starting October, but there is no word on pricing yet.
