Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime Amazon India

It seems Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Redmi Note 2 Prime in India, atleast according to latest teasers by the company and this page on Amazon.in, saying it will be an exclusive.

At present there is no word on availability of the device. But Amazon says its coming soon. However if we had to venture a guess, we can say that this might be the Redmi Note 2 Prime which comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, MediaTek Helio X10 octa-core processor with 2GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage which is expandable running Android 5.0 Lollipop based MIUI 7. It is a dual-SIM 4G LTE device with a 3060 mAh removable battery.

We have already reviewed the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime, you can watch our video review above.

The Redmi Note 2 Prime comes with the tried and tested 13MP/5MP camera combination. This is all conjecture at this point and pure speculation, there is no confirmation on this at present. But a new device from Xiaomi is definitely coming to India, a market that they have forgotten over the last few months. The teaser above shows the front camera module on the left of the main earpiece, which is similar to the Redmi Note 2 Prime, and while its on the right in case of the Redmi Note 3. Although given Xiaomi's legal tussles with Ericsson over essential patents violated with MediaTek based devices, it may just be an entirely new device.

Xiaomi launched several smartphones and devices in the past 6-8 months in China, including the Mi 4C, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 3, Xiaomi YeeLight, but none of them made it to India. In-fact the last major product announcement from the company was the launch of the Redmi 2 Prime. During this time, several manufacturers have entered India including Meizu with its excellent M2 and M2 Note offerings, Obi Mobiles alongwith Blu Mobiles which is supposed to launch its Android smartphone range early next year.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime Detailed Specifications

Moreover, Samsung has upped its game in the budged segment with its J and O series of smartphones. last we heard both the Galaxy J2 and Galaxy J5 were doing pretty well in their segments. Motorola too has an excellent offering in the sub-Rs. 15,000 price segment in the form of the Moto G3. If Xiaomi is indeed serious about India they clearly need to change their strategy. Most of their products are out-of-stock especially accessories which people have learnt to like.

Even if Xiaomi is bringing the Redmi Note 2 Prime in India, its actually a bit late since the company has already launched an updated version with fingerprint sensor and metal construction in China.

Update: It seems that Xiaomi is launching an updated Redmi Note 4G, instead of the Redmi Note 2 Prime in India on December 15, more details here.
