Sony today launched their latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia XZ1, in India. The XZ1 was unveiled last month at IFA along with the Xperia XZ1 Compact and XA1 Plus. The XA1 Plus was launched in India last week and as usual, the Compact variant won't be making its way here.

The Xperia XZ1 sports a 5.2-inch full-HD HDR display powered by Sony’s Triluminous and X-reality technology. For resisting scratches, it has got Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top of it. Under the hood, Xperia XZ1 has a 64-bit Snapdragon 835 chipset coupled with Adreno 540 GPU and 4 GB of RAM. The 64 GB internal storage can be expanded up to 256 GB using a microSD card.

The unique selling point of the smartphone is its camera. On the back, the camera features a 19 MP Exmor sensor with 5-axis stabilization. The highlighted feature on Xperia XZ1's camera is its 3D scanning capabilities, which can create a 3D model of your head by just moving the camera around it. Then the model can be used in several AR apps within the device. It is pretty neat. The back camera can also shoot super slow-motion videos up to 960 frames per second (just as we saw on Xperia XZ Premium). Not to mention, the camera is capable of shooting videos in 4K resolution as well.

Up front, the device got a 13-megapixel camera with 22mm wide angle lens and f/2.0 aperture. The front camera also has a Sony Exmor sensor.

The device packs in every connectivity option including dual-SIM support, dual-band WiFiac, GPS as well as NFC. The power button placed on the right side of the phone houses the fingerprint scanner. XZ1 also has IP68 water and dust resistance rating, meaning it can survive being dunked.

When it comes to audio department, we get Hi-Res Audio, digital noise cancellation, S-Force surround sound, stereo recording, and Qualcomm's own aptX audio support here.

Xperia XZ1 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and will be available in black color in India. The 2900 mAh battery may seem a bit less, but the smaller display and lower resolution will help in that aspect along with support for Quick Charge 3.0. Priced at Rs. 44,990, the Xperia XZ1 is available from today. There are a couple of launch offers as well including Rs. 1000 off on the Style Stand Cover along with an additional 5% cash back with HDFC and ICICI cards.
