Samsung Google Nexus S Reviews

Samsung Google Nexus S Review at Engadget

It seems like every couple of weeks we're saying something along the lines of "x is the best Android smartphone on the market right now." We'd like to tell you differently when it comes to the Nexus S, but the truth is, it really is the best Android device available right now. Sure, we'd prefer it was on Verizon, and yes, there are some issues with the phone and OS that detract from the good bits... but there are also a lot of good bits. We'd been longing for a Galaxy S device that wasn't burdened by Samsung's sometimes-clunky TouchWiz, and in joining forces with Google, the company has more than delivered. Read more...

We can write all day about a phone, but the real test with us is whether we continue to use it after a post. The EVO and the Droid X were quickly forgotten for us. Michael tested the iPhone 4 but its lack of point to point navigation and unwillingness to play well with Google Voice made him ultimately give it up after a month and move back to the Nexus One (Google Voice has finally made it to the iPhone, but it isn’t as deeply integrated into the OS as on Android, and probably never will be). The Nexus S will almost certainly be his go-to phone for the next few months. Michael is leaving today for a week in Europe, and taking only this phone with him. Google needs a developer phone with a clean build of Android. The Nexus S fits that bill. But it isn't the best Android phone for T-Mobile users (or for anyone, for that matter.) On Sprint, the Samsung Epic 4G ($199, 4 stars) gives you WiMAX and a keyboard.

If you get all worked into a lather over who's on Android 2.1 and who's on 2.3, the Nexus S is a fine phone for you. Otherwise, it's just another high-quality, high-end Android phone in a crowd of good choices. Read more...

Samsung Google Nexus S Review at LaptopMag

When Google released the Nexus One, it was easily the best Android phone on the market and remained king of the hill for many months. Its successor is also on the bleeding edge when it comes to software, but the Nexus S' hardware is behind the curve. The lack of HSPA+/4G and 720p video recording are both pretty surprising for such a high-end handset. While Samsung and Google don't compensate enough for these drawbacks to make this phone an Editors' Choice winner, we really like the changes Android 2.3 brings to the table and especially what's coming with NFC. Whether you choose this handset over a more feature-packed device such as the similarly priced myTouch 4G really comes down to how much you desire an unadulterated Android experience. Read more...
