Amazon India is gearing up for its biggest festive shopping campaign of the year, with the Amazon Great Indian Festival set to kick off on October 8, 2026. The event will go live a day before the Flipkart Big Billion Days Sale.
As part of the annual shopping extravaganza, customers can expect limited-period price cuts, new product introductions, and festive promotions spanning a wide range of categories. Amazon is also strengthening its logistics operations and adding temporary workers to manage the expected increase in orders during the festive season.
Bank Offers and Festive Deals
The Great Indian Festival will bring offers across smartphones, electronics, large and small appliances, fashion, beauty, kitchen products, and everyday essentials. Amazon has also partnered with financial institutions to provide a 10% instant discount on eligible State Bank of India (SBI) credit and debit card purchases, including applicable EMI transactions.
Prime members will receive an additional benefit, with discounts of up to 10% available on select purchases. The sale will be divided into several deal formats, including “Blockbuster Deals,” “Top 100 Deals,” and “Mega Deals,” along with special offers scheduled during evening hours.
Customers can further reduce their purchase costs through initiatives such as “Buy More Save More,” “Exchange Mela,” and no-cost EMI options.
Amazon’s festive push will also extend to its entertainment business. Prime Video is set to offer a curated festive lineup featuring original and regional content across multiple Indian languages.
Amazon Adds Infrastructure and Seasonal Workers
Amazon India is expanding its operational capacity ahead of the festive rush. The company said it will generate more than 160,000 seasonal employment opportunities across its network, covering roughly 400 cities. The hiring drive includes locations across major metros as well as Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets.
The company has simultaneously increased its logistics footprint in India by adding 20 fulfillment centres, six sort centres, and 150 last-mile delivery stations. Amazon’s seller ecosystem has also grown beyond two million registered merchants nationwide, helped by the addition of more than 300,000 sellers over the last year.
Faster Delivery Options and Amazon Now Expansion
Amazon is preparing multiple delivery options to support festive purchases. The company says more than one million products will qualify for same-day delivery, while over four million items will be eligible for next-day delivery. Prime customers will also continue to have access to standard Prime shipping across the wider selection.
Amazon is additionally expanding its quick-commerce operations through Amazon Now, which currently serves customers in more than 60 cities. Its footprint includes several non-metro locations such as Jalandhar, Tirupati, Warangal, Dharwad, Vellore, and Berhampur.
Amazon Now provides rapid delivery of groceries, fresh produce, personal care products, and select small appliances. The company plans to take the service to 100 cities before Diwali, with customers able to access regional availability through the Amazon Now section within the main Amazon mobile app.
