Apple has launched its latest iPhone in the 15 Pro series the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max in the Global Market including India, the successor of last year’s iPhone 14 Pro models along with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. Featuring a fresh Titanium design, an A17 Pro chip, a customizable Action Button, USB 3 Type-C, and an innovative 5x Telephoto camera for the Max version, this device maintains its Dynamic Island display.
Apple A17 Pro Chip -
Introducing the A17 Pro, Apple's inaugural 3nm chip, which utilizes an EUV process and boasts a remarkable 19 billion transistors. This chip is equipped with a 6-core CPU comprising two high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores. It showcases an accelerated 6-core GPU that delivers up to a 20% increase in speed, introducing support for Ray tracing and featuring a brand-new 16-core Neural Engine.
Furthermore, the A17 Pro incorporates a dedicated AV1 decoder, and the revamped USB controller facilitates the iPhone's first-ever support for USB 3 speeds, capable of reaching speeds of up to 10 gigabits per second. This enhancement enables significantly faster data transfers and supports video output of up to 4K at 60 fps in HDR.
Action Button -
The recently introduced Action button serves as a replacement for the previously single-function switch. Users have the flexibility to customize this button to their preferences, enabling them to initiate various actions such as launching the camera, activating the flashlight, using Voice Memos, engaging Focus modes, employing Translate, or accessing accessibility features like Magnifier.
Additionally, it supports the utilization of Shortcuts for an even wider range of options. Apple has incorporated a press-and-hold gesture, complemented by precise haptic feedback and visual cues within the Dynamic Island, to ensure that the button consistently triggers the intended action.
The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are equipped with a 48MP Main camera, offering a new default setting with an impressive 24MP super-high-resolution output. Users can seamlessly switch between 24 mm, 28 mm, and 35 mm focal lengths. Additionally, these devices provide 48MP ProRAW capabilities and support 48MP HEIF images, delivering a fourfold increase in resolution.
In terms of telephoto options, the iPhone 15 Pro features a 3x Telephoto camera, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max introduces a groundbreaking 5x telephoto camera with a 120 mm focal length. This innovative camera incorporates a tetraprism design and combines optical image stabilization with an autofocus 3D sensor-shift module, representing Apple's most advanced stabilization system to date.
These enhancements usher in the next era of portrait photography, promising crisper details, more vibrant colors, and superior low-light performance. Notably, you can now capture portraits seamlessly without the need to switch to Portrait mode. Apple asserts that Night mode has been significantly improved, delivering sharper details and more vivid colors, thanks to the inclusion of the Photonic Engine. This improvement extends to Night mode portraits, made possible by the LiDAR scanner.
Furthermore, the iPhone 15 Pro enables the direct recording of ProRes video onto external storage, offering elevated recording options, including up to 4K at 60 fps. An additional innovation is the introduction of a Log encoding option, making the iPhone 15 Pro the world's first smartphone to support ACES (Academy Color Encoding System), a globally recognized standard for color workflows, as stated by Apple. Spatial video capture capabilities are expected to become available later this year.
Titanium Design -
For the very first time, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max boast a robust yet lightweight titanium build. These devices showcase a fresh, meticulously crafted brushed texture, elegantly contoured edges, and the slimmest bezels ever seen on an iPhone. Employing a pioneering thermo-mechanical procedure, these titanium bands envelop a novel substructure crafted from 100 percent recycled aluminum. This unique manufacturing technique achieves extraordinary structural strength through solid-state diffusion, as explained by the company.
