coolpad mega 3 launched

Coolpad today launched two new smartphones in India, the triple-SIM Coolpad Mega 3 and Coolpad Note 3s. Both are Amazon.in exclusives and will be available starting December 7th. The company also hinted at a new flagship which will be launched here before the end of the year.

Coolpad Mega 3

Both smartphones are upgraded versions of their previous-gen counterparts. The Coolpad Mega 3 ups the game with a triple-SIM slot where you can use three SIM cards at the same time, although calls can be received on any one of them at a time. Then you also have a separate microSD card slot to expand storage. The Mega 3 runs on the MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor clocked at 1.25GHz with 2GB RAM and 16GB onboard storage. The build has been improved with the use of actual metal this time around instead of plastic as was the case with the Mega 2.5D.

If you like to take selfies, you would be happy to know that the Mega 3 comes with an 8MP front camera, with 80-degree wide field of view allowing for more people in the same shot as well as your surroundings. The recently launched Lenovo K6 Power too has an 8MP front camera but is priced much higher. It has an 8MP rear camera as well. Coming to the rest of the specs, there's a 3050 mAh battery powering the innards, and Android Marshmallow based CoolUI taking care of routine tasks.

Coolpad Note 3S

Coolpad Note 3S builds on the previous-gen Note 3 but still comes with a 5.5-inch 720p HD display while the rest of the competitors including the Lenovo K6 Power and Redmi Note 3 offer a full-HD display and more powerful internals at the same price point.

Talking of internals, the Note 3S is powered by the dated Snapdragon 415 octa-core SoC with Adreno 405 GPU. There's 3GB RAM and 32GB of onboard storage which is expandable. Connecitivity options include dual-SIM 4G VoLTE support, WiFi, GPS and FM Radio. It has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera just like the first-gen Note 3. You also get a fingerprint sensor at the back of the phone. The frame here is made of metal, but the removable back is made of plastic. Powering the smartphone is a 2500 mAh battery, which seems measely compared to the 4000 mAh or more offered by it's competitors.

Pricing and Availability

The Coolpad Mega 3 has been priced at Rs. 6999 and the Note 3S at Rs. 9999. Both will be available at Amazon.in exclusively.
