Gmail for Android updated with option to save attachments to Drive, better RTL support

Gmail app has been updated on Android to version 4.8 bringing in some UI changes and new features. You can now save your attachments directly to Google Drive. There's better Right-To-Left support with profile picture and navigation menu on right instead of left. You also get Spam explanation why the mail was considered a spam message.

Here are the new features of Gmail 4.8 for Android:

  • Save to Google Drive - Instead of downloading attachments to your device, you can now save attachments directly to Google Drive.
  • Spam explanations – Get an explanation at the top of every spam message.
  • Improved RTL support - Better left-to-right language support with profile pictures and the navigation menu on the right instead of the left.
  • Faster access to the side navigation menu – Swipe from the left edge (or right edge for RTL languages) to quickly access your accounts and labels, settings, help, and feedback

The update has already begun rolling out, and should be available to all by next week.
