Google has launched its latest smartphone in the 8 series the Pixel 8a in India ahead of Google I/O next week. It features a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness reaching up to 2000 nits, it's 40% brighter than its predecessor, the Pixel 7a.
Under the hood, it's powered by the Google Tensor G3 SoC and includes the Titan M2 security chip. Running on Android 14, the phone is promised seven years of software support, comprising security updates and Android OS upgrades, as per Google's announcement.
In terms of design, the Pixel 8a introduces two new A-series colors: the limited edition Aloe and Bay, alongside the classic Obsidian and Porcelain options. Google highlights the phone's refined and premium design, characterized by rounded edges, a matte back, and a polished aluminum frame.
Camera-wise, it retains the 64MP rear camera with OIS, a 13MP ultra-wide secondary camera, and a 13-megapixel front camera. Both front and rear cameras support 4K video recording. The Pixel 8a boasts Super Res Zoom up to 8x and incorporates features such as Magic Eraser, Night Sight, Photo Unblur, Best Take, and Circle to Search.
Maintaining its IP67 ratings for dust and water resistance, the Pixel 8a offers a new 256GB storage option and houses a 4492mAh battery, slightly larger than the 4385mAh battery found in the 7a. It continues to support 18W fast charging and wireless charging.
