
iQOO has officially confirmed the launch of its next flagship smartphone, the iQOO 16 in China on September 29 at 7:00 PM. The smartphone is expected to go on sale immediately after the launch event.
Positioned as a performance-focused flagship, iQOO representatives revealed during the initial announcements that even the base variant of the iQOO 16 is designed to deliver performance comparable to, or potentially exceeding, that of conventional high-end “Pro Max” flagship models.
The launch announcement comes shortly after a joint technology communication conference held by iQOO and Samsung Display on September 14. During the event, the companies unveiled what they described as their most extensive technological collaboration so far, with a major focus on a newly developed flagship display panel manufactured on a dedicated production line.

According to the technical information shared at the conference, the display uses Samsung Display’s latest M16 luminescent material alongside a custom-developed display driver IC. This combination enables the panel to deliver a 165Hz refresh rate at native 2K resolution, positioning it among the most advanced smartphone displays currently announced.
The panel also incorporates multiple eye-care and brightness-management technologies. These include an unpolarized natural-light architecture, hardware-level DC dimming across the entire brightness range, and a three-sensor ambient light system. The setup is designed to automatically optimize screen brightness across different lighting environments.
The display is further rated for a 2,800-nit global peak brightness and up to 10,000 nits of local peak brightness, while screen-by-screen factory calibration is intended to provide consistent color accuracy.
More details about the iQOO 16, including its processor, memory configurations, cameras, battery and charging capabilities, are expected to emerge in the coming weeks ahead of its official unveiling later this month.
