LG's first true flagship of 2017 is now out. The company has just announced the LG V30 and V30+ smartphones at IFA 2017. Both feature class-defining 6-inch OLED FullVision displays with 18:9 aspect ratio.

LG also claims that they have made these phones a lot lighter and thinner compared to similarly sized devices. We had already heard about the camera prowess of the LG V30 with it being the first smartphone ever to sport a camera with a f/1.6 aperture lens. The wider aperture helps let in more light into the camera, thereby improving low light performance. They have also included a Crystal Clear Glass lens opposed to the plastic lenses found on the majority of the devices.

But the V30 doesn't pack just one, but two rear cameras. So, first is the main 16 MP sensor with f/1.6 aperture lens while the second is a 13 MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture and 120-degree wide-angle lens. This is a different approach to what other manufacturers are doing with dual cameras. LG was always taken the wide-angle route for the second camera to allow you to capture more of a scene instead of providing 2X optical zoom like the Galaxy Note 8 and the iPhone 7s Plus.

In the front, you get a 5MP wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture. Coming to other hardware specifications, the V30 will run on the Snapdragon 835 coupled with 4 GB LPDDR4x RAM and 64 GB internal storage. The LG V30+ gets 128GB internal storage which is expandable as well. A 3300 mAh battery gives the power to the smartphone with support for fast charging over the USB Type-C port and wireless charging support as well.

Going back to that brilliant display, the V30 will also get Always On Display. With AOD you will get shortcuts to quick tools and also control the music player when the screen is off. You also customize the floating bar of apps with up to 5 of your favorite apps. All this runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box with a quick update to Android 8.0 Oreo in the works.

LG has included a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC and yes there's a headphone jack here as well. You also get a pair of B&O PLAY earphones within the box with every V30 and V30+. The V30 is an audiophile dream with digital filters to control frequencies and decibel levels along with Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) technology which allows high-fidelity audio streaming.

Even with a glass and metal body, LG has been able to get MIL STD-810G certification for the V30, meaning that it can withstand damage even when dropped. Moreover, you also get IP68 dust and water resistance on board for your peace of mind.

The V30 will hit the market in four different colors - Aurora Black, Cloud Silver, Moroccan Blue, and Lavender Violet. It will go on sale in South Korea from September 21.
