Micromax has launched Bharat 5, their low-cost 4G VoLTE smartphone in India. They will also be launching two new Bharat phones in the next 2-3 months. The main highlight of the new Bharat 5 is its massive 5000 mAh battery. The company said at the launch event that they expect more than 6 million devices will be sold by March 2018.

Unlike most of the phones launching today, you can’t get Bharat 5 online. The only possible way to grab a Bharat 5 is through offline retailers. The Bharat 5 is priced at Rs. 5,555 and competes with the rather capable Xiaomi Redmi 5A available for Rs. 4,999. The only edge Bharat 5 has over the Redmi 5A is the battery capacity.

As a launch offer, Vodafone’s new or existing customers can avail 10 GB data per month for five months with at least 1 GB data pack with the Bharat 5.

When it comes to the specifications, the dual-SIM Bharat 5 features a 5.2-inch HD display running on an unspecified 1.3 GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1 GB DDR3 RAM. You can expand the 16 GB onboard storage up to 64 GB using an external SD card. The 5 MP cameras on the front and the back, both feature LED flashes. Just comparing on specs alone, the Redmi 5A seems a far better choice.
