Nothing has launched its latest smartphone in the Phone (4a) series, the highly anticipated Nothing Phone (4a) in the Global Market, including India, as previously announced.
Display and Software -
It features a larger 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 4500 nits peak brightness. It is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor paired with up to 12GB of RAM. The company also mentions improved VC cooling for better thermal management.
The device runs Android 16 with Nothing OS 4.1. Nothing has promised 3 Android OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates, similar to its previous models. The Essential Key is still present but has been moved to the left side, along with Essential Space.
Glyph Interface -
The phone continues to feature Glyph lighting, but it now comes as a single Glyph Bar consisting of 63 mini-LEDs arranged in seven square segments. It is said to be up to 40% brighter than the previous version, reaching up to 3,500 nits. Nothing also claims zero light leakage and no yellow fringing across all brightness levels.
Camera and Design -
The device retains the 50MP main camera with a Samsung GN9 sensor and OIS, along with an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 32MP front camera. A notable upgrade is the 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto camera with OIS, replacing the 2x telephoto seen in its predecessor.
The phone keeps Nothing’s signature transparent design, while the camera module now features a pill-shaped aluminium bar. Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protects the rear panel, and the company claims 34% greater bend resistance than the Phone (3a). It also comes with an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance.
Battery -
The Indian variant packs a 5,400mAh battery, an upgrade from the 5,000mAh battery in the previous model, while the global version includes a 5,080mAh battery. The phone supports 50W PD fast charging, which can charge the battery to 50% in 22 minutes and 100% in 56 minutes. However, it does not support wireless charging.
According to the company, the battery can retain over 90% of its capacity even after 1,200 charging cycles, which is equivalent to more than 3 years and 4 months of daily charging.
