OnePlus ran an advert today in a leading Indian daily which says that the OnePlus 3 6GB RAM variant will be priced at Rs. 27999 ($416 Approx.), at par with what we had predicted.
We had expected that the company will launch two variants in India, one with 4GB RAM and other with 6GB RAM. But is seems, OnePlus is probably only launching the 6GB RAM variant with 64GB onboard storage first. OnePlus 3 will be the first smartphone in India launched with 6GB RAM, since the Le Max 2 is still not available.
The advertisement seems to have been printed a day earlier by mistake since the phone is yet to launch. But we do get confirmation on the specs. There's Snapdragon 820 running the show here, fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button, 6GB RAM, 64GB storage but strangely the advert says that OnePlus 3 will have a 16MP front and 8MP rear camera, seems like another mistake. Now, more than 24,000 OnePlus 3 units have been imported to India which are going on sale after midnight tonight. There will be pop-up events in various cities as well where customers would be able to see and then buy the product.
Someone at Hindustan Times, definitely seemed to have jumped the gun on the advert but it does clear some doubts. Presence of Dash Charge, the company's own Fast Charging tech is also mentioned, which may just be a re-brand of Oppo's Super VOOC fast charging technology. According to the advert you will also get 12months free accidental damage protection with OnePlus Care, an years' worth of Double Data from Idea, a year of Saavn Pro membership with unlimited downloads and Rs. 500 worth Amazon Kindle credits. Needless to say, the OnePlus 3 will be an Amazon exclusive in India.
Coming to the rumored specs of the device, OnePlus 3 will have a 5.5-inch AMOLED display, 3000 mAh battery, 16MP/8MP cameras, Android Marshmallow with Oxygen OS. We will know if the 4GB variant is making it to India tomorrow.
Thanks for the tip, Shashi!
