Samsung Galaxy Tab 4

Samsung is hell-bent on cornering the tablet market. If you thought that the Galaxy Tab 4, TabPro and NotePro series were enough, you would be wrong. Samsung is now planning a premium range of tablets under the Galaxy Tab S series. They are expected to be come in two different screen sizes, 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch. The resolution of the AMOLED displays being used here is pegged at WQXGA or 2560x1600 pixels. There would be a fingerprint scanner in there as well.

The Galaxy Tab S will will be powered by the Octa-core Exynos 5 5420 SoC with ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture. It comprises four 1.9 GHz Cortex-A15 cores and four 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 cores. There's a 6-core ARM Mali-T628 GPU clocked at 533MHz which takes care of graphics. There will be 3GB of LPDDR3e RAM onboard, 8.0-megapixel primary camera with 1080p Full HD video recording and a 2.1-megapixel front facing camera. Android 4.4.2 will be running on the Galaxy Tab S right out of the box.

In terms of design it will be similar to the Galaxy Tab 4 series with the perforated backcover like the Galaxy S5. The Galaxy Tab S will be available in Shimmery White and Titanium Grey colors upon launch. At present there is no word on pricing or availability but it seems Samsung is planning to trounce Apple by throwing everything into the ring.
