Alongwith the launch of the Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Android Lollipop, Google announced something surprising, the Nexus Player. Based on Android TV and manufactured by Asus, the new $99 Nexus Player is also a gaming device. A separate game controller can be purchased to that affect as well.

The Nexus Player is powered by a 1.8 GHz quad-core Intel Atom processor alongwith WiFi ac support with dual-antenna MIMO configuration as well as HDMI out for connecting it to a TV. Google Cast comes baked in so you can play anything off from your Android smartphone, tablet Chromebook, iOS device to your TV.


It comes with a voice-search enabled remote control and then you can also purchase the separate $39 game controller which takes in AAA batteries. The Nexus Player will be available for $99 on pre-order starting October 17 and would be available on November 3rd.
