Microsoft has just begun sending out invites for its Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL launch events in India to be held on April 7th. Both the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL were launched at MWC 2015.

The Lumia 640 comes with a 5-inch 720 display while the Lumia XL manages to get itself into the phablet domain with a 5.7-inch HD display. Both have Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 1.2 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 400 with 1 GB RAM, 8 GB ROM running Windows Phone 8.1 upgradable to Windows 10. The Lumia 640 comes with a 8 MP rear and 1 MP front camera while the Lumia XL gets beefier camera specs with a 13 MP rear unit and a 5 MP front facing camera. The Lumia 640 has a rather large 2500 mAh battery while the Lumia 640 XL has an even larger 3000 mAh battery.
In usual Lumia fashion, Microsoft will launch the 640 and 640 XL in several color options. But the lack of 4G LTE might be a bother for some folks. At present there is no word on pricing or availability, we will know more at the event.
