Apple is widely expected to introduce its first foldable iPhone in September. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the device is expected to be among the first major Apple products to support the company's recently introduced Apple Upgrade leasing program.
Apple Upgrade Program
The Apple Upgrade program, powered by Klarna, allows customers to pay for eligible Apple devices through monthly installments. At the end of the lease term, users can choose to upgrade to a newer Apple device, return the existing product, or pay the remaining balance to own it outright. Apple manages the customer experience, while Klarna handles the financing.
Apple had reportedly explored launching its own hardware subscription service in the past but abandoned the idea due to implementation challenges and regulatory concerns. With the new Klarna-backed Apple Upgrade program, customers are expected to have the option of leasing the upcoming foldable iPhone instead of paying the full purchase price upfront.
Pricing and Availability
The foldable iPhone is expected to debut in September with a price tag exceeding USD 2,000 (approximately Rs. 1,90,360). According to Gurman, customers will likely be able to lease the device through the Apple Upgrade program for around USD 60–70 per month, offering a more affordable alternative to a one-time payment.
