Apple is reportedly working on its first foldable iPhone, aiming to blend the portability of a smartphone with a tablet-style experience. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the device will introduce redesigned iOS layouts inspired by the iPad, enabling improved multitasking, productivity, and content consumption on a larger inner display.

The foldable iPhone is expected to feature updated iOS layouts similar to iPad apps, including sidebar navigation to enhance multitasking. Users may be able to run two apps simultaneously on the expanded internal screen, while developers can optimize existing iPhone apps for the larger interface. Despite the iPad-like design elements, the device will reportedly continue running iOS instead of iPadOS, maintaining a simpler multitasking approach.

The inner foldable display is said to be roughly the size of an iPad mini, offering a broader aspect ratio suited for videos, apps, and productivity tasks. The outer screen, meanwhile, will function like a smaller iPhone display, allowing users to handle everyday tasks without unfolding the device.
Camera and authentication changes -
Apple is expected to adopt a hole-punch camera design on the outer display, moving away from the notch or pill-shaped cutout seen on current models. To accommodate the thinner foldable form factor, Face ID may be replaced with Touch ID built into the side button—marking the first fingerprint-enabled iPhone since the iPhone SE (3rd generation).
The internal display will likely feature a visible camera cutout rather than an under-display solution, as earlier tests reportedly compromised image quality. On the rear, the device is expected to include a dual-camera setup, one fewer sensor than current Pro models.
