Apple launched the iPhone 18 Pro series at an event held a few hours ago. While Apple typically reduces the prices of older iPhone models following the launch of a new generation, the company has taken a different approach this time. It has increased the prices of the iPhone 16, iPhone 17, iPhone 17e, and iPhone Air globally, including in India.
The latest price revisions cover multiple models and storage variants across the iPhone lineup. The changes include significant increases for the iPhone Air, while the iPhone 16, iPhone 17, and iPhone 17e have also received price adjustments.
As part of the usual product-cycle transition, Apple has also removed the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max from its official online storefront following the introduction of the new flagship models.
Apple has also not launched the standard iPhone 18 model alongside the new Pro lineup. This means the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are currently the new-generation models available, while the regular iPhone 18 is expected to arrive at a later date or never launch.

The revised pricing represents substantial increases across the affected models. The iPhone 16 128GB variant is now ₹20,000 more expensive, while the iPhone Air 1TB variant has received the largest increase of ₹65,000.
Although Apple sets the official MRP, third-party retailers often offer iPhones at lower prices during promotional sales. Buyers can therefore expect potential discounts on these models during upcoming shopping events such as Flipkart's Big Billion Days and Amazon's Great Indian Festival, which are expected later this month or in early October.
If you are planning to purchase an iPhone, waiting for these upcoming sales could be a better option, as retailer discounts may help offset some of the recent price increases.
