Coolpad is set to launch its Cool Play 6 smartphone in India on August 20th. The Cool Play 6 packs 6GB RAM and the Snapdragon 653 processor for better performance. This is the second dual-camera smartphone from the company coming to India. It packs dual 13MP rear cameras similar to the Cool 1, including a monochrome sensor which is used to capture depth and contrast information. It also has an 8MP front camera for selfies.

Talking about the front, there's a 5.5-inch 1080p Full-HD display protected by Gorilla Glass. You will find capacitive navigation keys at the bottom of the display, while the fingerprint sensor is on the back. All this is powered by a massive 4060 mAh battery which is non-removable. According to Coolpad, the Cool Play 6 can last up to 252 hours on standby and play 8 hours of video continuously or 6 hours of gaming.

The phone primarily has a metal build and will come in soft gold and black color options. In China, it was priced at 1499 Yuan (roughly Rs. 14,500), and we can expect it to be priced similarly in India. The Cool 1 Dual had excellent cameras, but LeEco's EUI was one of the major issues which kept it from becoming a great phone.

Great time for smartphone buyers in India

Let's see what the Cool Play 6 packs underneath the hood. The competition in the sub Rs. 15000 space is heating up and it's becoming difficult to find the best phone in this segment. Lenovo recently launched its own dual-camera smartphone, the K8 Note starting at just Rs. 12,999 while the Redmi Note 4 is still the segment king. Motorola's Moto G5 Plus too has been selling well, and the company is gearing up to launch the updated Moto G5s and G5s Plus soon in India.

It's a great time for smartphone buyers in India, with Amazon and Flipkart showering discounts, and almost every major manufacturer bringing new devices at affordable prices.
