TECNO has officially launched its latest smartphone in the POVA series, the Tecno POVA 8 5G in India, succeeding last year’s POVA 7 5G. It brings upgraded hardware, a unique triple-chip architecture, and a suite of AI-powered features aimed at enhancing productivity, connectivity, and entertainment.
Design and Display
The POVA 8 5G continues TECNO’s futuristic design philosophy with bold geometric accents and a semi-transparent rear panel. A standout feature is the newly introduced Alive Matrix Display, an interactive light panel integrated into the back of the device.
The customizable panel supports up to 49 dynamic lighting animations and responds to various activities, including:
- Incoming calls and notifications
- Charging progress
- Gaming sessions
Users can further personalize the lighting effects according to their preferences. On the front, the smartphone sports a high-refresh-rate display with a 144Hz refresh rate and TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light Certification for improved viewing comfort. TECNO also claims military-grade durability for the device.
Camera Capabilities
The rear camera system is positioned alongside the LED matrix panel and is led by a 50MP primary camera featuring Sony’s LYTIA 600 (LYT-600) sensor. The sensor is designed to deliver improved light capture and enhanced image detail in various lighting conditions.
The main camera also supports 2x lossless zoom, while a 13MP front-facing camera handles selfies and video calls.
Performance, Connectivity, and Battery
Powering the POVA 8 5G is the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 processor, paired with two proprietary TECNO-developed chips as part of a triple-chip architecture.
- G1 Signal Enhancement Chip: Helps maintain stronger cellular connectivity in weak-signal environments such as elevators and underground areas.
- SE1 Wi-Fi Enhancement Chip: Improves Wi-Fi reception, stability, and overall wireless performance.
To manage heat efficiently, TECNO has integrated a large 15,000mm² graphite cooling system.
The smartphone packs a massive 8000mAh battery, which the company claims can deliver up to two days of usage on a single charge. According to TECNO, the battery can provide:

- Over 29 hours of YouTube streaming
- More than 26 hours of WhatsApp usage
- Over 14 hours of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang gameplay
AI Features and Software Experience
The POVA 8 5G arrives with several AI-powered tools designed to improve everyday usability and content consumption.
- AI YouTube Summary: Generates concise summaries of lengthy videos, complete with key points and timestamps.
- AI Noise Cancellation: Reduces background noise during voice calls, recordings, and online meetings.
- AI LightMaster 2.0: Enhances photos by automatically removing reflections, lens flare, and unwanted shadows.
- Instagram Live Photo Support: Allows users to upload Live Photos directly to Instagram in Boomerang format.
- AI Health (Select Markets): Uses facial recognition technology to estimate heart rate, blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂), and respiratory rate.
TECNO has also committed to providing two major Android OS updates and three years of security patches for the device.
As an added benefit, buyers will receive three years of complimentary 256GB cloud storage. In eligible markets, users will also receive a 3-month Google AI Plus trial that includes access to 2 TB of cloud storage.
