Xiaomi has slashed the prices of the Redmi 1S to Rs. 5999 and pre-registrations are going to begin today evening at 6 PM on Flipkart. The Xiaomi Redmi 1S will be available starting September 2nd. It brings mid-range specs at a budget price with a 1.6 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 with Adreno 305 GPU (1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 found on Moto G), 1 GB RAM, 4.7-inch HD 720p display with Asahi Dragontrail Glass protection running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with MiUI v5 running on top.
There's a 8 MP camera at the back with a 1.6 MP front-facing unit also available. The 8 GB internal storage available on the Xiaomi Redmi 1S is expandable with a microSD Card slot. There's a capacious 2000 mAh battery on the phone to power the internals. The Redmi 1S is an excellent phone at this price, competing easily with the likes of the Moto G and other mid-range offerings at just half the price.
