XOLO Q1000 Opus comes with a Broadcom BCM23550 quad-core processor, which hasn't gone through rigorous benchmarks yet. It features 312 MHz VideoCore IV graphics engine.
With 1 GB RAM we expect the performance to be at-par with budget quad-core chipsets from MediaTek especially MT6589 which is found in most smartphones in this price segment. Don't forget to check out unboxing of the XOLO Q1000 Opus and hands-on images.
Quadrant
The Q1000 Opus scored 3660 on quadrant which is a respectable score in this segment, but MT6589 equipped phones like the Micromax Canvas 2 Plus scored significantly higher at 4059.
AnTuTu
The AnTuTu score of the Opus is a bit more competitive, it scored 13476 which is about the same as the Canvas 2 Plus and the Karbonn Titanium S2.
NenaMark2
The graphics engine is what concerns us more, as the VideoCore engine is generally used by lower-end and some mid-range Samsung mobiles.
So it was imperative to see how it performs in this new quad-core chipset. The XOLO Q1000 Opus got a framerate of 49.9 FPS which is excellent, meaning even high-end games should be playable at decent framerate.
Linpack
Linpack tests task performance of the CPU and is divided into two tests, single thread test and multi-thread test. The Q1000 Opus scored 34.98 MFlops on single thread linpack and 108.18 on multi-thread test, again these scores are quite competitive and about the same as MT6589 from MediaTek.
Vellamo
XOLO Opus scored 1276 on Vellamo HTML 5 and 495 on Metal. These scores are definitely good considering the entry-level price of the device.
On comparison with the similarly spec'd Canvas 2 Plus, the Q1000 Opus fell a bit short with a score of 1276 on Vellamo HTML 5 vs 1487. But it beat the Canvas 2 Plus with a score of 495 vs 450 on Metal.
Multi-touch Test
The 5-inch IPS display on the phone supports two points of touch. But we expected a 5-point muti-touch display given the price point of the device and the competition.

Conclusion
The XOLO Q1000 Opus can certainly stand hand-to-hand with the Micromax Canvas 2 Plus, its own sibling the XOLO Q800 and the likes. The new Broadcom BCM23550 chip is certainly capable of high-end gaming at low-mid settings and 1 GB RAM helps in that department.
But we did notice that the phone does get a little hot just below the camera module if you stress it a bit. Although not uncomfortable to hold, but its something we are going to keep a track of. Other than that its a competitive offering from XOLO with superior build quality than most of its competition. People looking at the XOLO Q1000 may also consider the Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2, therefore we have included it in the benchmark comparison above. But the Galaxy S Duos 2 has lesser memory, a dual-core processor, app-data can't be moved and the display is rather small compared to the Q1000 Opus. Therefore, if multimedia and gaming is your priority then the XOLO Opus will probably be a better bet as it supports native 1080p video playback.
