Samsung is gearing up to launch its next-generation foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, this year, according to a report by The Elec, a Korean publication. Mass production of components for these new foldables is scheduled to commence in early May, which is 2–3 weeks earlier than last year.
There is speculation that Samsung intends to capitalize on the success of the Galaxy S24 series by promptly releasing its remaining flagship phones for 2024. Additionally, The Elec mentions the possibility of an entry-level foldable phone model, rumored to be called the "Fold FE," which is likely to coincide with the release of the Apple iPhone 16 series.
Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6 coming in July 2024 -
With the earlier commencement of mass production, the launch of the Galaxy Z6 series may face a delay to mid-to-late July compared to the previous year's August release. An industry insider remarked that the finalized foldable phone product could hit the market in July due to the expedited production timeline.
The entry-level variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is anticipated to debut in September or October, approximately 2 to 3 months after the release of the standard Z Fold 6 model and Z Flip 6. This timing could potentially shift consumer focus towards the iPhone 16 series, which is also expected to launch around the same period.
The standard Z Fold 6 model is designed to be slimmer than its predecessor, while the entry-level model aims for even greater thinness and cost reduction by forgoing stylus support. Samsung Electronics intends to showcase its expertise in manufacturing thin foldable phones through both the standard and entry-level variants of the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
Furthermore, the report indicates that specifications and component partners for the Galaxy S25 series, slated for an early release next year, are expected to be finalized in May.
Samsung Unpacked Event 2024 -
The anticipated debut for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 is slated for the first half of July. Samsung's second Unpacked event of the year, purportedly set to take place in Paris, has undergone adjustments due to several factors, resulting in an earlier launch this year.
In addition to the foldable phones, the Galaxy Ring is also anticipated to make its appearance, with its design unveiled at MWC 2024. Samsung teased the product with minimal details, suggesting a potential release later this year, possibly in July.
