Verizon today unveiled three Motorola devices today, the $99 DROID Mini, $199 DROID Ultra and the $299 DROID Ultra Maxx in New York City, all available starting August 20 on a 2-year contract. The DROID Ultra is the flagship device among the three and according to Motorola its the thinnest 4G LTE smartphone out there with its 7.18mm thick chassis. Motorola's love of Kevlar can be seen here too, but in a shiny glossy way rather than the matte options we have seen in the past. There's a 5-inch display that makes for the front of the phone.
Then there's the DROID Ultra Maxx which is for the power-conscious folk, with a larger sealed battery which makes the phone go for 48 hours on a single charge and makes it a tad fatter at 8.5mm. Its pretty much the same smartphone as the DROID Ultra but with the larger battery and fatter waist-line.
Last but not least is the DROID Mini, which makes do with a 4.3-inch display. Apart from this, Motorola announced its X8 mobile computing system which is a part of all three smartphones. It uses 8-cores, part of which is the quad-core processor and additional cores which allocate the computing power to graphics processing, language processing and other tasks when required. The X8 system also allows for the devices to be controlled without touching them and ask for directions hands-free. Plus there's the Active Display tech which only lights up a portion of the display to show you notifications. All these sound really similar as we have seen these features in the Roger's commercial of the Moto X.
Now, if you would've noticed, Motorola has gotten rid of the RAZR label of its Droid series, could this be the end of one of the most iconic mobile brands? We'll reserve judgement on that. At present there is no details on the actual complete specifications of the three devices, but we'll update you as soon as we learn something.
