Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML Review: Gets the Basics Right

The Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML was the first phone to come with 4GB RAM. Even if you forget that for a moment, it packs a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, Intel's latest quad-core 64-bit processor (Z3580/Z3560) with 4G LTE support, 13MP/5MP Cameras running Android Lollipop with ZEN UI on top. We reviewed the 2GB RAM variant of the Zenfone 2 ZE551ML with 1080p display and found it to perform quite well. Multitasking was no issue with the device. The placement of the volume rocker at the back is not ideal and the power button up top is a huge design mistake from an ergonomic standpoint. But at its price, the Zenfone 2 is still good value for money given its build and performance. You can watch the in-depth review of Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML 2GB RAM variant above with pros/cons just below alongwith detailed scores. Read more...

InFocus M350 Review: One for the Selfie Generation

InFocus, although a new brand has established itself as a player in the market with the success of the InFocus M2 and M330. The M350 continues the trend forward with a sleek design, 4G LTE support and again a front-facing 8MP autofocus camera for the selfie lovers, and the front-camera actually performs better than some of the rear-facing units on the competition. Now, the large front bezels might not be to everyone's liking which makes the phone look quite tall but the build and construction of the device is quite solid as is the camera performance. Sadly, the InFocus M350 is still running on Android 4.4 KitKat, which should be strict no-no for any device launching in 2015 and moreover, at present there is no word on a Lollipop update. But even its competition including the Redmi 2 and the Lenovo A6000 Plus are still running on Kitkat, so I won't cut points for that here. The InFocus M350 is priced Rs. 1000 more than its immediate rivals, and for that you are getting better build, better cameras and good performance. Is it worth it? You can watch our full-review of the InFocus M350 above to find out. Detailed review scores alongwith pros/cons can be found below. Read more...

LG G4 Review: Most Practical Flagship of 2015

For its 2015 flagship, LG G4, the company decided to stick with what works. They gave us the most practical flagship of 2015 with brilliant cameras, excellent display, good build quality, good performance with no over-heating thanks to the Snapdragon 808 SoC being used on the G4 instead of the plagued SD810. LG opted to give a removable back on its flagship G4, removable battery and a microSD card slot to expand storage, something missing from several of this years' top smartphones. The LG G4 is certainly missing some features like in-built wireless charging or a quick-charger included within box but I would take those over the abysmal battery-life on the Galaxy S6 or the shoddy cameras on the HTC One M9. While Samsung was busy with re-inventing its Galaxy line-up and HTC was as usual struggling with cameras on its smartphones, LG have us the G4 - a phone that just works and works well. Read more...

Honor 4C Review: Not Worth the Price

Huawei launched the Honor 4C, mini version of the Honor 4X in India running on the company's own Kirin 620 SoC with 3G support, right at the time when 4G was booming in India. In terms of design, build and features its quite similar to its elder brother but has a lackluster display, tinny speakerphone which definitely don't justify its price. Although, performance is quite good with the Kirin 620 SoC and it doesn't heat-up in even heavy tasks or continuous gaming. But that still doesn't justify the price tag when you can easily opt for the 4G enabled Honor 4X instead. You can learn more in our detailed review above, if you just want a brief about the pros/cons alongwith detailed scores just scroll down. Read more...

Coolpad Dazen1 Review: Ruined by Bad Cameras

The Coolpad Dazen 1 is spearheading the company's efforts in India. Now priced at just Rs. 5999, its a good buy for anyone looking for a budget Android smartphone. It packs 4G LTE support, a HD display, good performance and good battery-life. Where the Dazen 1 lacks is its camera. If you want a phone with even a decent camera, the Dazen 1 is not for you. It struggles in even good lighting, with images turning out blurry. The display too has its issues, the back-light is uneven and there is a bit of light-bleed. But this is a budget device, so you should expect some compromises especially when you are getting 2 gigs of RAM onboard, 8 GB internal storage with app & app-data both movable. Although the competition is quite tough here with the Redmi 2 excelling in both the camera and performance department, while the Lenovo A6000 Plus offers better cameras and display as well. If Coolpad can fix the camera issues with the Dazen 1, it would be a great contender to dethrone the Redmi 2. We have our detailed review of the Coolpad Dazen 1 above, you can see the review scores with pros/cons below. Read more...

Lenovo A7000 Review: Worth Considering

Lenovo A7000 was introduced as the first smartphone with Dolby Atmos built-in. On headphones it works perfect but doesn't have much effect when listening via its speakerphone. Talking about the speakerphone, its tinny and isn't that loud. The audio output via the headset jack isn't that loud either, and considering its a audio-centric device, its a disappointment. But the Lenovo A7000 gets a lot right, it performs well in day-to-day usage, gaming as well as multitasking. Its cameras are quite decent and the display looks good (better than the YU Yureka). Battery-life is also good here. The Lenovo A7000 should definitely be in contention if you are looking for a budget 4G phablet. Read more...

Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual SIM Review: Overpriced, Under-performer

Microsoft is positioning the Lumia 540 at the same price as the Lumia 640 which comes with a faster, more powerful SoC, better cameras, larger battery and overall far better performance. So why should you care about the Lumia 540 Dual-SIM? Because it has a 5MP front-facing camera and a 8MP rear camera, both of which can only record in 480p. If you are looking for a Windows Phone, then just give the Lumia 540 a miss, its running on the same internal hardware as the much cheaper Lumia 430 with a higher-res HD display which definitely taxes the Snapdragon 200 SoC. Just go with the Lumia 640 or you can choose from a plethora of Android smartphones available at the same price. If you need more details about the Lumia 540's camera, display, audio-output, call quality and the like, just watch the video above. Detailed review scores with pros/cons are just a scroll away. Microsoft Lumia 640 XL Dual SIM Review: Great Camera, Premium Look

Microsoft may not be raking in the moolah with its Windows Phone line-up, but Nokia/Microsoft makes some excellent smartphones. The Lumia 640 XL is one of them. Its large and bulky with a 5.7-inch display, but is built well, looks great and is a head-turner. People asked me which phone it was at every event I took it to. You can't say the same about many mid-rangers. The Cyan color stands out for me and even at just HD resolution the 5.7-inch display looks crisp, has great contrast. But that's not the standout feature of the Lumia 640 XL. The 13MP rear camera with Zeiss optics steals the show here with some excellent images in good lighting as well as good low-light performance. The Lumia 640XL has great cameras, probably the best in its class of smartphones. It runs Windows Phone 8.1 competently and will be one of the first smartphones to get Windows 10 Mobile. If you want a large phablet with a good display, great cameras and good battery-life, the Lumia 640 XL should be in your list. You can watch its detailed review above, a brief on its pros/cons alongwith review scores are listed below. Read more...
